How Climax Began
Climax Field & Culture Supports was founded from a shared vision between Nurdini Hamza, Director, and Issa Chamuungwana, Co-Founder. For many years, we witnessed a challenge that continued to concern us. local communities were often part of tourism, but not always at the center of it.
As we traveled, worked with different people, and listened to stories from local communities, we realized that tourism had the power to create opportunities, preserve culture, support education, and improve livelihoods. However, we also believed that communities deserved a greater voice and greater participation in the benefits that tourism can bring.
After many conversations, ideas, and discussions, we made a decision to create Climax Field & Culture Supports an organization built on the belief that communities should not simply be observed by visitors but actively engaged, respected, and empowered through meaningful partnerships.
What started as a simple idea has grown into a platform that connects travelers, researchers, volunteers, students, organizations, and local communities through authentic experiences and impactful projects. Our mission is to create opportunities where learning, cultural exchange, conservation, and community development go hand in hand.
Based in Arusha, Tanzania, Climax works with communities, schools, researchers, conservation groups, and development partners to design experiences and initiatives that create lasting value. From cultural village visits and coffee farm experiences to educational programs, volunteer placements, research support, and community development projects, every activity is guided by our commitment to people and positive impact.
We believe that every community has a story worth sharing, valuable knowledge worth preserving, and a role to play in shaping a sustainable future. By bringing people together, we create opportunities for mutual learning, understanding, and growth.
Today, Climax continues to be driven by the same purpose that inspired its creation: to ensure that communities are given the priority they deserve in tourism, development, education, and conservation.
